Evrade made a face. "How about we play rock, paper, scissors to decide who checks it?" she suggested.

Nathan looked at Evrae with a scrunched up face. "What?" he asked.

"These things...can they dissemble themselves? Like, walk as just a pair of legs or anything?" Gigi asked.

"I don't think they can do that. The zombies can't move their limps if it's detached from their bodies and those other things die once we sever their limps." Tori held her chin between her thumb and index finger. "I'll go check . . . watch my back." She slowly crept over to where Alex launched the pebble.

Alex kept his sling shot up. "Do you see anything?"

Evrae watched anxiously, trying to think of what exactly was able to move through the ceiling so effortlessly. As she thought, she became distracted when she heard a heavy thud right outside of the door. "Oh, hell."

Nathan grimaced, moving over to the window and peeked out of the crack. He gulped. "Uh, guys?" he called out. "We have trouble and it comes in the form of one of those creepy giant guys."

Gigi began hyperventilating.

"Umm . . . guys. Is it often to see a bat in the city?" Tori turned back towards the others and saw tall figures roaming outside. "We better get to the roof."

"A bat? In the city? Not too often." Alex heard the thumping get louder and occurring more often. "Let's leave the bat alone. We have other problems to handle right now."

Evrae nodded and walked over to Gigi, shaking her. "Hey, snap out of it. A couple of more hours and we'll live through the night. We need to get up to the roof, though." She looked around and looked up at the stairs. "Any idea how to do that?"

Nathan blinked slowly. "We just climb up the stairs-" He yelped when he heard a loud bang against the door, carefully peeking. "Guys, no time! Just move!"

Gigi came back to her senses and stopped hyperventilating but still looked concerned. "Bats...can these things turn into bats?"

"As far as I know, no. Those things can't turn into anything." Tori looked to the side and smiled. "You guys go first. I have some things to set up." She ran off to the side of the store and started gathering supplies.

Alex took the lead and ran towards the stairs. "Keep up guys! We have a time limit." He took out his slingshot and kept it raised in case anything tried to jump out in front of them.

Evrae breathed out, nodding. "Alright, let's move!" She held out her gun cautiously and gestured for the others to start moving.

Nathan stood positioned at the door, doing his best to keep it blocked whilst the others headed upstairs. Clicking his tongue, he glanced over at Tori. "What are you planning?"

"Well, at least there's that." Gigi sighed and headed upstairs.

Tori smiled. "I'm going to light this place on fire. I saw some sturdy rope that we can use to get to the roof of the other building before this place crashed to the ground."

"For now. Who knows how long it'll take for them to make their way up here. We just have to be prepared until then."

"Easier said than done," Evrae muttered, forehead creasing before jumping when a loud thud was heard, vibrating the room.

Nathan blinked at her slowly before giving a nod. He said, "Alright. Sounds...good, I guess. Better make it fast, though. I think these guys are starting to get a wee bit impatient."

"Fire...does that mean I have to do something?" Gigi asked, twitching her fingers.

Tori smiled and pulled out a few alcohol bottles. She quickly assembled together Molotov cocktails. "Stand back!" She lit them with matches she found and threw it at the front door. "Get to the roof!"

"You heard the lady. Let's go. I'll stay back to make sure nothing gets past." Alex quickly ushered the two ladies to move ahead of him.
