N.I.G.H.T.M.A.R.E

"Up we go!" Evrae wasted no time in hurrying up the stairs.

Nathan wasted no time in hurrying up the stairs, grabbing Gigi in the process and dragging the poor girl up with him.

Gigi sobbed miserably as Nathan dragged her along. "I'm going to be eaten by zombies and my hair is all messed up!" She kept twitching her fingers, trying to create fire.

Tori caught up to the others and kept pace. "When we get to the roof, some of us need to bar the door while I make a rope bridge to the other building. Any volunteers?"

Alex reached the roof last and pressed his back against the door. "I'll hold the door. Hurry with the bridge."

"I'll help with the bridge," Evrae volunteered, glancing over the edge of the roof just in time to see some more zombies heading their way. "How many more hours until sunrise?"

"Uh..." Nathan glanced at his watch and visibly perked up. "Half an hour!"

Gigi took a deep breath. "Half an hour...half an hour. Okay. Okay...okay." She clasped her hands together, then picked a stick up off the ground. "If light one of them on fire...they die, right? They don't just become firey zombie hordes?"

Tori snickered lightly at Gigi's comment. "No. Lighting them up will fry their brains. If their brains don't work, they're done." She finished her bridge and threw it across to the roof of the next building. "We got to go one at a time."

"You guys go first. I'll keep the door closed for as long as I can." Alex felt heavy pounding on the other side and it was not relenting. "Please hurry though. I can't keep it closed forever."

Evrae gestured to the others. "Get going, I'll hold the door with Alex."

Nathan nodded, looking at the others. "Alright, ladies first."

Gigi looked at each of the others in turn. "The scary creepy creaky bridge...means further from zombies. I'll take it." Holding onto her stick like a lifeline, she began to walk across the bridge.

"Let's go. Be careful. This bridge isn't exactly the most stable but it'll get us to the other side." Tori stood by the beginning of the bridge. "Come on." She extended her hand out so she can help everyone get on the bridge.

Alex felt more pressure against the door. "Hurry! I can't keep it closed for much longer." He cringed when a spike shot through the door close to his head. "WHOA! GO GO GO!!!"

"That's new," Evrae mumbled, staring at the spike before turning on her heel and began helping the others across the bridge.

Nathan grimaced, immediately stepping onto the bridge a moment after Gigi and began to make the trek across. He spared a glance downwards, unsurprised to see a few zombies limping beneath him.

"Ohnoohnoohnoohno," Gigi babbled as she walked across the shaky bridge. "Well, fine, I wasn't planning on falling anyway!"

"Doing good so far guys. Keep up the pace. Make sure not to shake the bridge too much. It's still slightly unstable."

Alex found a pipe lying close by. He picked it up and shoved it through the door handle. "Time to go." He ran over to the others and helped everyone make their way across before he started his turn.

"Just ignore what's below us," Evrae advised.

Nathan looked around, almost paling at seeing something large in the distance. "Not to rush anyone or anything," he called out, "but maybe we should get a move on? I see something flying towards us."

Gigi hopped onto the next building, off the shaky bridge. "Yes!" She pumped her fist. She glanced back at the others, spotting the flying...thing. "No!"

Tori was the last to cross the bridge. "Get inside!" She pulled her knife out and cut the ropes from the bridge. "And I suggest now before that thing gets us."

Alex aimed his slingshot up at the flying figure and let loose a rock. He saw it hit the figure and watched as it started to fall. "Let's go." He lightly pushed the others toward the door.
